Legendary Announcer Passes Away Oct 4th 2017, 21:38, by GWH News From Brian Slack: Lance Russell passed away on October 3, 2017 in Memphis, TN from the complications of a broken hip sustained from a fall.  Russell was 91.  Lance Russell was one of the main voices in southern wrestling from 1959 until 1997.  He won the Cauliflower Alley Club's Announcers Award in 2016, was named Wrestling Observer's best announcer from 1984 to 1987 and was inducted into the NWA Legends Hall of Heroes in 2009.  He was also inducted to the NWA, Combat Sport Pro, the Memphis Wrestling and the Wrestling Observer Hall of Fames.
